Ayurveda is widely available in the UAE, from wellness spas to licensed medical centres. If you are looking for treatment rather than just relaxation, it is worth choosing carefully. Here is a checklist you can use for any clinic – including ours.
1. The clinic is licensed by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi
Healthcare facilities and practitioners offering Ayurveda as medical care in Abu Dhabi should be licensed by the Department of Health (DoH). Ask to see the facility licence and check that the doctor treating you is licensed too.
2. Treatment is led by qualified Ayurvedic doctors
Look for doctors with a recognised Ayurvedic medical degree such as BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) and relevant experience. Therapists should be trained in the specific Kerala therapies they perform. Meet our doctors.
3. A proper consultation comes first
A good clinic assesses your health, medicines and reports before recommending therapies – it does not sell a package before seeing you. Read what to expect at a first consultation.
4. Honest, realistic advice
- Be cautious of promises to “cure” serious or chronic diseases.
- A responsible clinic will never tell you to stop prescribed medicines on your own.
- It should be happy to work alongside your regular doctor and refer you when needed.
5. Hygiene and comfort
Treatment rooms should be clean, oils and linen fresh for each patient, and your privacy respected.
6. Clear pricing and insurance information
You should know the cost of the consultation, each therapy and any package in advance, and whether your insurance covers any part of it.
7. Authentic medicines and oils
Ask where medicines and oils come from and whether they are prepared to classical formulations.
8. Convenient location and follow-up
Many Ayurvedic programmes need daily visits for one to three weeks, so a clinic close to home or work makes it easier to complete your plan.
